Suggested Scripture Reading: Mark 15:3-5 Barking At The Moon
"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you,
with all malice:"
Of all the sins people commit there is none worse than the sin of gossip, whispering and
slandering. When we are misrepresented and slandered, the natural reaction is to requite evil
for evil in retaliation. Yet, the evidence of real Christlikeness is to be able to reward evil
with good and go right on living our life for Christ. Peter says of Jesus that He "did not sin,
neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he
suffered he threatened not" (I Peter 2:22, 23). And He is our example, for Peter tells us we
should follow in His steps. |
