God's Little Men

"And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone."
John 1:42

Andrew had met the Lord Jesus Christ, and immediately wanted others to know Him too. And so He "first findeth his own brother Simon . . . and he brought him to Jesus." Andrew was one of the "least" and most obscure of our Lord's disciples. He evidently had few talents and was limited to his abilities to do big things. He never wrote a book like John or Paul or Matthew. He never preached a sermon like Peter, but he knew how to introduce people to Jesus. He was a personal worker and soul winner.

Only three things are mentioned about Andrew. He brought his own brother to Jesus (John 1:42). He brought a lad with a simple lunch to Jesus (John 6:8, 9). He brought the Greeks to Jesus (John 12:22). That is all we know about Andrew. Unnoticed, unappreciated, all but forgotten, but what a ministry was his. Without Andrew there would not have been the great preacher of Pentecost, Peter. Without Andrew the hungry multitude would not have been fed nor the Greeks brought to Christ! Tradition tells us one of these Greeks was Luke, the physician, who wrote the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts. In heaven, Andrew's name will stand high as the man who knew how to bring souls to Christ. You too can be a little Andrew. You may not be able to preach, sing, write, or do the "flashy" things that people notice, but you can by prayer and witnessing be a little Andrew and wait for your praise till you get to heaven. Then to hear His "well done" will mean everything! We have many Peters and Dr. Lukes, but most important of all is Andrew who led them to Christ.

Will you recommend Christ to someone today?
